Born in San Francisco to a French-American family, Janet Herbert has always been surrounded by the arts and music. At the age of five, she was featured in a major newspaper performing her artwork. As a young woman, she studied interior design, architecture, painting, and photography at the prestigious Cornish Institute in Seattle and at the world-renowned Sorbonne in Paris.

Among her many interests, Janet has worked as a feature news photographer and as a professional interior designer. Specializing in color coordination, French country designs, and English gardens, she has worked on the mansions and estates of the rich and famous. Her interiors and gardens were featured in a major Hollywood movie.

Though she has a broad education and has traveled the world, Janet was born with innate talents and creative instincts that cannot be taught. She offers such a unique viewpoint, and her ideas are so highly original and appreciated.

Married to New York Times-bestselling author Brian Herbert for 39 years, Janet’s photographs of him have appeared on his book jackets, and she has served as his inspiration for countless story concepts. Brian once looked her with a bemused expression and said, “You know, honey, I have no idea what you’re thinking or what you’re going to do next, but it’s a great adventure for me... and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
